It will be different this time.
Firstly, I'm in your age bracket, and we need to approach exercise more slowly and in a manner that serves your body. We will conquer the limiting beliefs about yourself and aging so you are open to this new and exciting life.
The first focus will be eliminating nagging aches and pains that prevent you from being active and doing what you love. The ones that come back time and time again. We will use a simple methodology of functional assessments to determine the cause of your pain. Then, we will apply appropriate corrective exercises that will create an immediate improvement. Doing those exercises for the next 6 - 8 weeks will make the change permanent, and the issue will be fully resolved. AND it may fix other aches or pains in the body as we move you into good posture. You will get straightforward suggestions on what activities to avoid or to incorporate into your daily life to prevent the problem in the future.
Clients have access to me between appointments to ask questions or relay concerns. I will be with you to coach you through the tough days and inspire you to focus on what you want to achieve.
Collaborating with your healthcare providers, such as doctors, chiropractors, physiotherapists, or osteopaths, ensures we are all moving you toward your goal. This is a decisive benefit to clients.

Hi, I'm Marilyn, an exercise therapist, personal trainer, and owner of MVR Fitness. I'm in my 60's and love life!
Fitness has been a passion of mine since childhood. As a young adult, I enjoyed wilderness canoeing, hiking, and camping, but there was no real scheduled fitness. I gained weight as our young family grew. A prescription for blood pressure medication in my early 40s finally made me decide changes were needed.
Before becoming an exercise therapist, I was a governance professional for a tri-listed international oil and gas company. While walking my dog one evening, I sustained a concussion in a fall on an icy sidewalk, resulting in the need for me to leave my career as the symptoms returned worse each time. You can read my story of recovery in the blog.
During recovery, an exercise therapist was one of the many people who helped me to regain my sense of self and strength. I was in awe of her work and committed to becoming an exercise therapist to give others the help and hope I'd received.
I returned to school, and well, here I am!
I am married to my best friend, Kevin. We are a blended family of seven children, six grandchildren, and our dog. I enjoy hiking in the mountains, cycling, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and lifting weights. The people I love and the activities I'm passionate about are why health and wellness are a priority.
